Krampus is the son of Hel, the Norse god of the underworld. In the old days, Krampus would assist St Nicholas as he visited children, and while St Nicholas rewarded good children, Krampus would punish those who had misbehaved.
Krampus's relationship with St Nicholas was amicable for the most part, as both were given memorial days to be celebrated. But over the years, the popularity of spiritual creatures diminished, and as it did, so did their powers.
The belief in Krampus had waned over the years, but people still believed in St Nicholas, although he had been renamed Santa Claus in many parts of the world. This irked Krampus more than he dared admit. St Nicholas had managed to rebrand himself and with that, his powers had not diminished.
Spiritual creatures need people to believe in them, or their powers vanish. Krampus decided that he would force people into believing in Holiday myths and legends, once again. By putting together a team bent on causing fear and terror on these celebratory days, he hoped people's fear and apprehension would create new tales and legends, and in so doing, bring back power to magical creatures.
After approaching several individuals and offering them an opportunity, his reign of terror began with the Holiday Horde.
Magic: Krampus's power comes from the underworld. His magic enables him to grant wishes as long as they are intended for evil purposes.

Teleportation: He can teleport and travel to the nether world.
Immortality: Krampus can be hurt, but his connection to the underworld protects him from fatal injuries.
Paraphernalia: Krampus carries a sword with blades of birchwood.
