In 1942, a woodsman named, Fredrick Cosby found a strange suit of armor in the woods beneath a two hundred year old tree. As he made his way home, he wondered how much he would get if he sold it to the scrap metal yard but as he walked, he casually put on the armor to playfully scare his wife. When he got there, however, he found his wife being assaulted by a group of men wearing hoods. He immediately recognized them as members of the Ku Klux Klan bent on causing mayhem.
Fredrick, clunking about in his rusty armour, rushed to assist his wife but as he neared the men, accidentally released a fire ball in the air. The men, seeing they were out of their league, took off before Fredrick could end their lives. His wife stared frightfully at the metal saviour but relaxed when Frederick removed his helmet.
The next day, Frederick woke up early and went back to examine the armor, but lo and behold, the rusty thing he had found was now shining as if it had just been made. He tried it on once more and nearly burned down his house when he unleashed a blast of fire. As he started to panic, he wished to God that the fire would stop, and stop it did. The fire had responded to his thought.
Inspired by the first superhero, Americanman, Fredrick decided that the armor had picked him to be a hero, as well. He accepted that role and became Fireball.
Honing his skills and discovering new abilities, Fireball has become a local hero in his hometown of Pervis, Mississippi. He fought villains like the Hangman and an evil wizard, Dr. Magus, who, after having been defeated, informed him that his armor was magical, though he had no idea where it came from.
Fredrick continued to use the armor to fight against the Nazis in World War II. He even teamed up with other superheroes including, Americanman. Fireball also helped found the first incarnation of Hero Corp.
In 1972, Frederick retired from the crime fighting world and the suit was passed down to his son, Carl. And in 2005, Carl passed it down to his own son, Theo.
Theo was invited by Bloodwing to become a member of Hero Corp.
